Christian Ministry Releases Latest Numbers
Soup kitchen serves nearly 4,000 meals in November

LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Christian Ministry of Lincoln County just released its latest stats and facts.

And if you paint by these numbers, it creates a compelling picture indeed. According to executive director Mitzi Williams, the ministry’s soup kitchen served up some 3,932 meals last month.

Also in November, as Williams revealed this week, there were:

  • 1,429 meals to shut-ins delivered by LINC Home Meals;
  • 618 buggies of food given out;
  • 2,041 individuals helped;
  • 101 people helped with utility bills;
  • 33 people helped with medicine;
  • 518 families signed up for Christmas help (“So far,” as Williams stressed);
  • and 453 children signed up for Christmas, also so far.

Williams also cited other ministry-related matters.

These include, she said, some “things you just need to know. We do not have any blankets.”

She encouraged folks to check out the Website at to see what a day at Christian Ministry is like.

Williams continued that the ministry’s annual Christmas give-out for its many clients will be held Dec. 20. The ministry will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Dec. 26 and New Year’s Day.

However, the soup kitchen will be open on those days, she added, “thanks to some very nice volunteers.”

Williams continued that the Christmas fund now stands at $30,650 (see related coverage in The Herald).

“Can we collect $90,000 in three weeks to match last year?” she rhetorically asked. “Did you catch those November numbers? Six-hundred-eighteen families received food in November. So far, 518 families have signed up for the Christmas food. We will give out as much, if not more, food on one day in December as we give out in a regular month! Help the ministry provide a happy Christmas morning to children; a full dinner table to families; and continue to be able to minister next year.”

Christian Ministry is located at 230 E. Water St. in Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 for more information.
