1/4/2019 5:50:00 AM The Church: God's Ambassadors To The World
Dr. Stanley Spence, Pastor First Baptist Church, Lincolnton, N.C.
The Lord God entrusted his plan to Jesus, His Son. The inheritance of the church is the same mission and family status with God, the Father. As his church we are now the extension of God here on earth.
When God heals, he heals through us! When God forgives, He forgives through us much of the time! When God acts toward mankind for salvation, He acts through us! When God cares for someone, He acts through us! You and I are the extensions of God’s arms, his feet, his heart, his hands, and his face. Do our feet carry us to ministry? Do our arms uphold those who need our strength? Do our hands work towards noble purposes? Do our hearts feel what God cares for us to feel? Does our face show the love God has for others?
We have a great opportunity in front of us all the time. We are the Church. We are the incarnation of Christ on earth. Christ was the incarnation of God on earth. Christ was God’s Son and we are God’s children, all those who trust and believe on His name. One of the reasons we don’t take that role too seriously is because we think to ourselves, if I can’t trust me why would God? Paul, the apostle struggled with this very thing. He said, ‘The very things I wish to do, I do not; and the things I ought not do, I do.’ Yet, he persisted in the effort to uphold the purposes of God. In his persistence he accomplished more than he would have imagined living on earth. Two thousand years later he is still one of the leading Christian teachers of all times.
The lesson is, do not lose heart but persist in God’s work through you. You don’t know how far God can move his kingdom through you. You are the extension of God himself here on earth. Like it or not, it was his plan which made it so. Serve the Lord with gladness. He is ready to use you. Make yourself available.
