Asbury UMC Mental Health First Aid Training, Saturday, March 9 --- Are you aware of what to do when you encounter someone exhibiting the early warning signs with mental health concerns? Do you know what to do when a mental health crisis happens? Asbury United Methodist Church is hosting a FREE Mental Health First Aid 8-hour course that gives people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course is open to the community for clergy and laity and will take place Saturday, March 9 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Lunch is provided. First UMC Lincolnton Mental Health First Aid Training, Saturday, March 9 --- United Methodists across our district are invited to attend this free Mental Health First Aid training sessions. Each session runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This 8-hour course teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Covenant Church, WLHS Band Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction, Saturday, March 9 --- Join us for spaghetti, salad, and dessert to support the West Lincoln High School Band. Lowesville Gospel Concerts, The Wisecarvers and The Pine Ridge Boys, Saturday, March 9 --- The Wisecarvers from Erwin, Tenn. and The Pine Ridge Boys from Inman, S.C. will be in concert on Saturday, March 9 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Living Word Ministries, 1062 Hwy 16 South in Lowesville/Stanley. Expecting a full house for this one, so bring a friend and come early. This concert is free and everyone is welcome. Coalition Of Churches Monthly Meeting, Monday, March 11 --- The Coalition of Churches is a Community Organization in Lincoln County working for the betterment of the community. The organization sponsors student tutors, MLK Celebration, Special Services and more. Meetings for the Coalition of Churches are held on the Second Monday Night of each month at Oakland Center (Oakland School), 410 Linden Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to these meetings.
United Baptist Lupus Support Group, Tuesday, March 12 --- A support group meeting for the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) will be hosting for those living with lupus, their family and caregivers on the second Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at United Baptist Church, 1970 Lowell Bethesda Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056. Flint Groves Baptist Alzheimer’s Workshop, March 21 & 28 --- The two-part workshop that is free and open to individuals with a recent diagnosis and/or in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases, their families and care-partners are invited to the educational workshop’s March 21 and 28 in Gastonia. The workshops will be held at Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 East Ozark Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28021. FIRST WORKSHOP (Navigating a Dementia Diagnosis: What Now? What Next?) will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m. This program covers understanding Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and the diagnostic process; and effective strategies for coping with day-to-day challenges of Alzheimer’s.
