LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Imagine being both elderly and poor.
Imagine having difficulty buying or preparing your own meals. What can you do? Who can help you?
That’s where Christian Ministry’s LINC Meals program comes in. For more than a generation, this meals-on-wheels program has helped countless local elderly and shut-in residents by bringing hot meals to their doorsteps.
But according to Christian Ministry Executive Director Mitzi Williams, the program needs you. Can you drive a route to bring nutritious meals to help these good folks? If you can, Williams urges you to call the ministry as soon as possible.
“We need drivers,” she said.
She continued that the Antioch route needs a driver every other Monday. The first and second Boger City routes need a driver respectively on the first Wednesday of each month and the third Friday. Iron Station needs a driver on the fourth and fifth Tuesday, and West Lincoln’s second route needs a driver on the fourth Thursday.
Christmas give-out is Dec. 20
And there’s big news about the annual Christmas give-out.
Williams said the date has been changed to Dec. 20.
“Please mark your calendars and save this date to come out and volunteer,” she added.
Also, the soup kitchen needs coverage on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving.
“We also need volunteers in the kitchen every other Tuesday and on Thursdays,” said Williams.
Can you help? If you can, call Teena Sigmon at (704) 748-4961 or (704) 732-0383.
Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 230 E. Water St. in downtown Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 or (704) 732-0383 for more information.
