LINCOLNTON––Like most such charitable organizations, Christian Ministry is a well-oiled machine.
It relies upon a timetable planned long months in advance. That’s why the group is seeking volunteer coverage of its soup kitchen right now.
And according to executive director Mitzi Williams, the soup kitchen has some open dates on upcoming weekends, including Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Nov. 8, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day, when the ministry will be closed), Nov. 26-27 (when the ministry will also be closed, with regard to the Thanksgiving holiday), Dec. 13 and Dec. 25 (as the ministry will be closed on Christmas Day).
If you can help, call Williams encourages you to contact her. You may reach her by telephone at (704) 732-0383 or e-mail at email@example.com.
In other news, Easter is April 12. But it’s not too soon to start planning now, and Williams hopes you’ll keep Christian Ministry in mind.
“Because clients usually come just once a month,” she said, “we will start giving out Easter baskets in March.”
Filling clients’ Easter baskets is an immediate goal right now. Williams reminded donors that the ministry already has baskets, eggs and grass. But items it does need include plastic Easter bags (available at Dollar General or the Dollar Tree), candy and small toys.
Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 230 E. Water St. in downtown Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 or (704) 732-0383 for more information on upcoming efforts and volunteer opportunities for individuals and church and business groups.
