LINCOLNTON––Can you donate a backpack to help Christian Ministry of Lincoln County?
If you can, the many homeless clients served by the ministry would be very grateful, according to executive director Mitzi Williams.
“Our homeless clients have requested backpacks,” she said Thursday. “Can you help by donating a new or used backpack to Christian Ministry?”
If you can help out, call or come by the ministry.
In other news this week, Williams cited the organization’s LINC Meals program. A key component of Christian Ministry’s efforts, this program delivers hot meals to local elderly and shut-in clients who may be unable to cook for themselves or unable to afford food purchases.
“The LINC Meals program is in urgent need of drivers to fill four open spots,” she said.
The slots are for just one day a month on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. If you have an hour to give to help others, contact Mimi Rhyne by telephone or e-mail respectively at (704) 732-0383 or email@example.com.
And the ministry could use a volunteer receptionist during the week, as Williams noted.
“We need someone between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.,” she said.
Helping with food and financial assistance
If you need food or financial help, Williams encourages you to come by Christian Ministry’s offices.
In addition to coming by the main office at 207 S. Poplar St. in Lincolnton, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., you may also come by the satellite offices. They’re available at McKendree United Methodist Church at 3537 Maiden Hwy. in Lincolnton, open the second Saturday of every month, 10 a.m.-noon, and the third Thursday of each month, 5-7 p.m.; and at Cedar Grove Lutheran at 261 Cedar Grove Church Road in Vale, open the first Thursday of every month, also 5-7 p.m.
Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 207 S. Poplar St. in downtown Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 or (704) 732-0383 for more information on these and other upcoming efforts, as well as volunteer opportunities for individuals and church and business groups.
