LINCOLNTON, N.C. - On Monday, October 13 a small crowd gathered as Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy Board Members Lynn Blake, Board Secretary Terry Mays, Board Chairman Richard Smith, Board Trustee Ray Dellinger, Board Member Mindy Shires and School Administrator Shelia Berryhill broke ground for a new building to house their growing academy.

Long Shoals Wesleyan Child Care Center opened in 1976, in 1984 they began "Educating for Eternity" with its first kindergarten class.  By 1992 they had started adding grades leading them to be a K-6 grade school and in 1997 the existing academy building was built.

They are now a K-12 College Preparatory School that is once again expanding so that they can continue their "Daring to Dream of Christian Education" program.
