Tick-tock!

The time is drawing ever nearer for two big annual events for Christian Ministry of Lincoln County. According to executive director Mitzi Williams, the benefit Christian Ministry Golf Tournament is coming up on Saturday Aug. 14th at Lincoln Country Club. Interested benefactors may sponsor golf holes for their businesses, doing so in memory of or in honor of loved ones. Check out the website to learn more about the tournament: www.christianministryoflincolncounty.org.

On Sunday August 29th at 3 pm, the “Cool Event” Empty Ice Cream Pottery Bowl Benefit will be held at Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ, 3410 Startown Road in Lincolnton. For $15, attendees may select a handmade pottery bowl and enjoy delicious homemade ice cream. The bowls are made by local potters. All proceeds will benefit Christian Ministry’s soup kitchen. Learn more by calling 828-244-9591.

In other news, Williams cited a good opportunity for a willing volunteer. The ministry needs a receptionist on the second Tuesday and fifth Thursday of each month, 9 am-12:45 pm. Training will be provided. Call the ministry to find out more about this.

The clothing closet needs garments. Right now, they’re in need of men’s jeans in waist sizes 29, 30 and 32.

The LINC Meals program also needs help. Williams said that drivers are needed for its Iron Station and West Lincoln routes.

Be sure to check out the website at www.christianministryoflincolncounty.org to learn more about volunteering and miscellaneous work that needs doing around the ministry’s offices. If you can help, call Woody Saunders at 704-748-4961.

If you can assist in any of the many needed capacities, or if you have students who need community-service volunteer hours for their school projects, clubs or social organizations, e-mail Saunders at: christianministry.volunteers@gmail.com.
