Scholarship Applications Available: The Lincoln County office of N.C. Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for the George A. Stoudemire scholarship. The Stoudemire gives preference to students planning to study areas directly related to the work of Cooperative Extension: agriculture, natural resources, family and consumer sciences, forestry, etc. This scholarship is only available to students studying at a North Carolina college or university. The amount of the scholarship is $2,600. The scholarship form will be available online at https://lincoln.ces.ncsu.edu, at each of the area high schools (including Lincoln Charter) in Lincoln County, and at the Cooperative Extension office, 115 West Main Street, Lincolnton. The deadline will be Friday, April 2, 2021. Feel free to call the Lincoln County Cooperative Extension office at 704-736-8461 if you have any questions.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FEB. 1, 2021: The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and Planning Board will hold a joint meeting and public hearing on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the following matter: CZ #2021-1 John and Carolyn Prime, applicants (Parcel ID# 02291) A request to rezone a 0.87-acre lot from B-N (Neighborhood Business) to CZ B-G (Conditional Zoning General Business) to permit vehicle sales in addition to vehicle service. The property is located at 1656 N. NC 16 Business Hwy., on the east side of N.C. 16 Business at Galway Lane, in Catawba Springs Township. Interested parties may appear at the public hearings, which will be held at the Lincoln County Administration Building, 353 N. Generals Blvd., Lincolnton, N.C. Free Online Relaxation Class: Carolina Caring will offer a Free Online Relaxation Class open to all bereaved families or anyone who is experiencing grief or stress beginning Wednesday, January 13 from 7-8 p.m. and every Wednesday thereafter through February 17. Grief and stress are stored in our bodies. Through a sequence of stretching and breathing techniques, this class will help loosen the emotional and physical tightness caused by grief or stressors.
