Historic Mundy House Tours Every Saturday: The Eastern Lincoln Historical Society is offering tours of the historic Mundy House on Saturdays at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and at 12 p.m., now through September 10, led by the Mundy House Tour Guides. The Mundy House is located at 4353 Business Highway 16 North, Denver, NC. The tour is free, donations are appreciated. For groups larger than 10, call 704-483-9446.

Christian Ministry Golf Tournament Registration: Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is preparing now for its 27th annual benefit golf tournament. Anyone can help by: donating gift certificates or merchandise to be used as prizes; sponsoring a hole at a cost of $100, and a sign will then be put on the course with your name on it; or by sponsoring a team from your church or business at a cost of $240. The golf tournament––a captain’s choice event, to be held at the Lincoln Country Club––gets under way with a shotgun blast at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. The cost is $60 a person or $240 a team to play. The cost includes green and cart fees, dinner at the club, drinks, snacks and two Mulligans (basically do-overs). Skirts and more Mulligans may be purchased for $5 each. Team cash prizes are available at the first, second and third-place levels.The first-place winner will play for free at next years event. Other rewards include those for golfers getting closest to the pins on every par three, the longest drive and door prizes. Those wishing to participate in the tournament may sign up by calling the Lincoln Country Club at (704) 735-1382 or Christian Ministry at (704) 732-0383. Westport Independence Day Parade And Celebration Registration, July 4: Attention Veterans, Volunteers and Parade Entrants; We Want You. Be a part of the parade and part of the fun. Parade with begin at 10 a.m. at Fairfield Forest Rd., Fairfield Methodist Church to The Episcopal Church of St. Peter by-the-Lake. Afterwards join us at St. Peter for a hotdog lunch, games, and more summer fun. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated tricycle, bicycle, golf cart, ATV, wagon, car, pet, float and kids costume.

PBML Happy Birthday America Parade June 30: Get out your red, white and blue and join the fun at the annual Happy Birthday America Parade on Thursday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. Kids of all ages are encouraged to decorate their strollers, bicycles, tricycles, wagons and scooters in holiday red, white, and blue. Special guests from the Hickory Police Department and the Hickory Fire Department will be on hand to join the fun as well as Pelicans for an icy cool treat! Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories for best decorated and more in this fun-filled family event that is free and open to the public. No registration is required for this event. For more information, call 828-304-0500. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block in Hickory, N.C.. All library programs are free and open to the public.
