Free Admission Veterans, Active Military May 21 through September 5:
Calling all military families, active and retired! For family vacation ideas this summer, visit The Schiele Museum for free exhibit admission thanks to Dignity Memorial and the Blue Star Museum program. From Armed Forces Day, May 21, to Labor Day, September 5, veterans, military personnel, and their families can spend summer at The Schiele for free! The program features free exhibit admission for up to five military family members. Veterans, active military, and their families show ID when visiting the museum to receive their free exhibit admission. Participants are welcome to purchase tickets for The Farm, planetarium, and other special events. For more ID requirement details, visit the museums website. Catawba Valley Wood Carvers Club Meeting, Saturday, May 21:
The Catawba Valley Wood Carvers Club will be meeting on a NEW DAY and TIME. All our monthly meetings will now be on the Third Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Klingspor Woodworking Shop at 856 21st Dr. SE (Sweetwater Rd.), Hickory. The May meeting will be May 21. Meetings are open to the public and to anyone interested in wood carving. Youth (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult, minimum age is 14. The meeting will follow COVID protocols, and members and guests are encouraged to wear masks. This month our meeting will be on carving a honeybee. Please bring your gloves and carving knives especially a sharp roughing knife to get through the outer shell of the ball. Members and visitors are encouraged to bring completed woodcarving projects to present in the show-and-tell portion of the program. Members are encouraged to donate items such as tools and wood for raffle prizes at the meeting. The club consists of about 40 Hickory-area woodcarvers of all skill levels, from hobbyist to professionals.

LC Health and Wellness Fair, Saturday, May 21:
The Lincoln County Health and Wellness Fair will be held Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 E. Pine St., Lincolnton, NC 28092. Free parking and admission. There will be prizes, giveaways, games, art and food (Hotdog, Chips, Drink Meal for $3.00; snow cones and cotton candy). The event will be open to the public for people of all ages. The goal is to promote knowledge of health and wellness resources available in Lincoln County from many different organizations, companies, etc. For more information please call me at 980-216-9813.

NBC The Voice Winner Coming To Maiden, May 28:
Todd Tilghman, season 18 winner of NBCs The Voice, will be performing in Maiden on Saturday, May 28 at 6 p.m. along with the host group The Littles and Americas First Family of Gospel Music The Hoppers. The Memorial Day weekend concert, Not Forgotten, will be a tribute to all who have given their lives in service to our country. Living Word Church is located at 923 Island Ford Rd., Maiden, NC 28650. Tickets are available online at iTickets.com (search Not Forgotten), Living Word Church, and Burke Mortuary in Maiden. Doors open at 5 p.m., concert begins at 6 p.m. General Admission is $20, Gold Circle $25.
