Mt. Zion Baptist Summit Trace Outdoor Concert, Sunday, October 4: Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the sounds of sweet Christian Music as our church celebrates 163 years of ministry. Summit Trace will be in concert on Sunday, October 4 at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken to help support their ministry. Mt. Zion is located at 112 Mt. Zion Church Road, Cherryville, NC  28021.

McKendree UMC Sunday Luncheon, September 20: Our monthly luncheons are back beginning this Sunday, September 20 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. We will be following all COVID-19 guidelines in food preparation and serving. One change related to this is that there will be Take-out Orders Only (no dining inside). Drive-thru pick-up will be available with volunteers directing on where to order and pick up the food. The menu this month is baked ham and chicken and dumplings with sides and dessert. If you would like, call ahead at 704-735-4062 and place your order (please call in between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). For a requested donation of $8 per plate your order will support our multiple ministries. McKendree United Methodist is located at 3537 Maiden Hwy., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Daniels Lutheran Spaghetti Lunch Drive Through, Sunday, September 20: Daniels Lutheran Church located at 3170 Reepsville Road, Lincolnton, will hold a Spaghetti  Lunch on September 20  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Carry out plates only, $10 each.  Proceeds will benefit the Building Fund.  Drive through the covered drive to pick up plates.  You may call in orders at 704-472-9314.

Fourth Annual Kandace Helms Run event of five kilometers (a distance just more than three miles) will not be held on a single day at a given time and place this year. It will instead be up to individual runners to run when they want at any time between Oct. 10 and 24. Runners may submit their times to Fitbit, RunKeeper, Strava and more to be added to the official participant results. Even a treadmill will do. The Helms Run is open to everyone from competitive runners to walkers, including seniors and children. Event shirts and participation medals are guaranteed with your registration through Oct. 1. The local packet pick-up will take place Oct. 10 in the parking lot of First Federal Savings Bank (the Boger City office). Awards will be given for the overall top three participants. Submitted times must be verified by race directors. The Kandace Helms Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 that funds a scholarship program for Lincoln County graduates and other youth organizations.
