LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Saturday will be mighty special for Chris Lawing and Lauren Ormand.
That’s when the couple will wed at the Lincolnton home of Larry Gilbert of Estate Jewelers and friend Michael Solomon. Both the bride-to-be and groom-to-be are from Lincolnton.
Lawing spoke Friday about the big day at the home of Gilbert and Solomon. Interestingly, Lawing is the third generation of his family to be married in this very same house.
He is the son of Judy Roseman Lawing and Vernon Allen Lawing. He is a quality technician at Blum, Inc. in Lowesville. He attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte through an apprenticeship program from Blum. At CPCC, he earned an associate’s degree in manufacturing technologies.
Ormand is an EMT for Lincoln County EMS. She is the daughter of Lynn Ritchie Ormand and Kenneth Michael Ormand. The bride-elect is currently attending Gaston College for an associate’s degree in medical assisting.
“We met each other through a friend in the spring of 2009,” Lawing explained. “We met Larry after he and his friend purchased the house and were interested in learning the history about the family that built it. They found the original name of the homeowners and realized that there were still people living in Lincolnton from that family. They contacted us and kept us informed on all of the information they had found about the house and the family that has dated as far back as the 1840’s.”
Gilbert and Solomon have had the home renovated, as Lawing informed.
“During the entire renovation project, they kept us up to date on everything they were doing,” he added. “It has truly been a blessing for them to get the house and tell us about the rich history that the house and our family have had. The house has truly been transformed into the beautiful house it was meant to be.”
