The Veterans Day Parade got canceled because of weather, but Lincoln County said 'thank you' to those who had served or are serving in the military with multiple events.

The 12th annual Veterans Breakfast was held Thursday morning at Union School. Rock Springs School in Denver held a similar event Wednesday morning.  Other schools also had special Veterans Day programs.

On Saturday, members of the Lincoln Quilters Guild held a program at the American Legion and gave Quilts of Valor to six men and one woman who had served.

In Gaston County, Stanley held its Veterans Day program on Thursday evening.

The Hometown Heroes banners were placed on the Courtsquare and Main Street from the square to Flint Street.  There were 208 new banners added to the ones from last year.  They will remain on display thru Thanksgiving weekend so those who come to Lincolnton for the Christmas Parade Sunday Nov. 27th, will have a chance to see them.
