Revaluation And A Tax Increase

Revaluation And A Tax Increase
Revaluation And A Tax Increase

This Letter to the Editor is in response to our recent article “Revaluation Appeal Deadline is Friday” that ran on April 25, 2023. (CLICK HERE)

Dear Editor:

"Our Lincoln County projected revenue is $136,240,147 with projected expenditures $143,492,147."

I red flag BS. Take a look at audited ACTUAL County revenue over the past four years.

  • FY 2019 was $117,229,525.
  • FY 2020 was $130,018,478.
  • FY 2021 was $141,806,853.
  • FY 2022 was $156,939,779.

If the above quote were true, cost would be decreasing to 2020-2021 levels, and we could see a tax decrease.

Lincoln County took in $39,710,254 more in FY 2022 that in FY 2019, which is a net increase of 33.87% over four years.

I'll bet that there are very few people who can say that their incomes have increased 33.87% over four years. Do YOU concur with this level of spending? I don't.

And now we're going to see another huge tax increase in FY 2024.

George Barr
