MAIDEN, N.C. -- Maiden High School, with the support of administration, held its first-ever Military Service Intent and Signing Ceremony on Thursday, May 10. The event recognized seniors with a current enlistment contract to enter military service or those actively pursuing entry into the armed forces.

Parents, guardians, family, friends, recruiters, and honorees attended the ceremony to recognize each senior's commitment to military service upon graduation. The ceremony concluded with a mock Oath of Enlistment for those who have already completed the Oath of Enlistment at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). This Oath of Enlistment made it possible for family members to take videos and pictures of the time-honored ceremony they were unable to witness at MEPS.

Maiden High School officials noted, “We are proud of all the students who have given it their all to get to where they are today. We are especially grateful for those who have committed to pursue service to this country.”

Graduating seniors who have completed at least two semesters in AFJROTC and have taken at least one of those semesters their senior year were also presented with red, white, and blue cords, which will be worn during their graduation ceremony.

An annual awards ceremony was also held on the evening of May 10, 2023, to recognize the accomplishments of all AFJROTC cadets (9-12 grades) from both semesters.
